The 2008 BC Yukon Regional Agility Championships, to be held, rain or shine, on June 13, 14 and 15, 2008 on grass at Rotary Stadium, Abbotsford, BC.
Our esteemed judges for the event are:
Entries: Must be received by midnight May 23, 2008. No entries will be accepted after this date.
Obstacles: All obstacles to be used at this event conform to AAC specifications. Breakaway tires and electronic timing will be used.

Eligibility: All dogs that have an ID# with the AAC are eligible to compete at the Regional level. The Regional Agility Championships are open to all dogs capable of demonstrating the elements of agility and control, and the mental and physical ability to carry out the required tests. Any dog is eligible to compete without regard for pedigree.
Dogs less than 18 months of age, bitches in season, dogs suffering from any injury or illness that affects the dog's physical or mental performance, and any dog that demonstrates signs of aggression towards people or other dogs will not be permitted to compete in a Regional Agility Championship.
All dogs must run at a height at which they would be eligible to compete in an AAC-sanctioned trial for the class in which they are competing, to a maximum of 26" in regular classes and a maximum of 22" in specials and veterans classes.
Regional Championship Events (unlimited entry): Each Regional consists of 6 qualifying runs, which shall include: 2 Standard, 2 Gamblers and 2 Jumpers courses. Dogs must be entered in and run all 6 courses to be able to place in the Regional Championships. A person may enter more than one dog, but under no circumstances may more than one person enter the same dog. An overall Regional Champion for Regular, Specials and Veteran dogs at each of 4 jump heights will be declared. Invitations or premium lists to enter the 2008 AAC National Championship will be sent to all participants scoring 350 or more points at their Regional Championship.
Prizes and Awards: Ribbons will be awarded for 1st through 6th place for all 6 individual rounds in each category and jump height. For the overall Championship, a trophy will be awarded for first place and rosettes will be awarded for 1st through 6th place in each category and jump height. Qualifying ribbons for the National Championships will also be awarded.
Cost: 6 Regionals runs is $100. This includes a competitors T-shirt. Competitors running multiple dogs will pay $100.00 for the first dog registered and $92.00 for each additional dog. Payment for registration can be made either by using PayPal, or by cheque/money order.
If you choose the cheque option, you will get a printed page showing your registration and purchases. This sheet must be mailed, along with a cheque (post-dated cheques will not be accepted) or money order in Canadian funds, to:

Warm-up Games (limited entry): Offered on Friday afternoon at a cost of $7.00 per round.
- Ring 1 - Standard with a Gamblers strip for Regular dogs.
- Ring 2 - Standard with a Gamblers strip for Specials/Veteran dogs.
- Ring 3 - Touch and Go.
Each dog will be allowed 2 minutes, including setting up the dog and getting out of the ring. These rounds will not be judged.
Registration for these games will be cut off when the maximum of 130 dogs is reached for each ring.

Banquet: The Regionals dinner will be held at 6:30 PM on Saturday, June 14, in the Cadet building located across the parking lot from Rotary Stadium. Security will be provided for dogs left crated in shade tents in the stadium. There will be a slide-show presentation of dogs photographed during Saturday’s competition by Regionals Photographer Jean Konda-Witte. Tickets for the dinner will cost $23.00. Banquet tickets may be purchased until June 6th by contacting Laurel Trustham..
Competitor Information Package: Will be emailed to you a few days after the closing date.
Refunds: There will be no refunds for entries withdrawn after the closing date, in the event that a dog is absent on the day of the trial, or if the event is cancelled due to riots, civil disturbances, fire, act of God, public emergency, strike, thunder & lightning, extreme weather or any other cause beyond the control of the organizers. Refunds will be issued only in the case if bitches in season or injured dogs, provided notification is received by the trial secretary prior to the first day of the trial. Requests for refund must be accompanied by a veterinarian’s certificate (DVM) and received by the trial secretary at least 2 hours before the start of competition on Saturday.
Bitches in season will not be allowed to compete under any circumstances.
Any competitor found to abuse a dog will be disqualified and asked to leave the trial site.
Assumption of Risk: All competitors participate in the events at their own risk. The host club – Matsqui Flyball & Agility Club – event staff, employees of Exhibiton Park and the City of Abbotsford are not responsible for competitors, their dogs, their children or their property. Receipt of your entry implies your assumption of any and all risks.
Schedule of Events: This timeline is tentative and may be subject to change.
- RV Parking Open: Thursday 6pm-10pm. Friday from 8am - 8pm. All spots are now booked and new requests are now on a waiting list.
- Gates Open to Competitors: 10:00am Friday and 6:00am Saturday & Sunday
- Registration: 10:00am-5pm Friday or 6:15am-6:45am Saturday
- Measuring: 3-5pm Friday or 6:15am-6:45am Saturday
- Warm-up Games: 12:00pm–5:00pm Friday
- Opening Ceremonies: 5:30pm Friday
- Open Walk-Throughs: 6:15am-6:45am Saturday & Sunday. Group briefings and 7 minute walk-throughs in each ring before each round. Walk-throughs will be split - Walk/Run, Walk/Run.
- First Dog: 7:00am Saturday & Sunday
- Banquet: Doors open at 6:30pm Saturday. Meal service at 7:30pm.
- Awards: 7:00pm Sunday. Final results will be posted on the website ASAP, hopefully Monday, as we are aware that there will be competitors unable to stay this late. We can also arrange transport of ribbons.
Parking: Parking for the event is available just outside the stadium. Please note that NO vehicles are allowed inside the stadium. Competitors will carry all their own equipment, tents, and crates a short distance. Hand carts/wagons are permitted. While we will have security canvassing the parking lots, please do not leave valuables in your vehicles and ensure all anti-theft devices are utilized.
Site Crating: Dogs will be permitted in designated areas on the grass to the east of the rings. There is no shaded space available. Competitors must provide their own shade tents for themselves and their dogs. Spikes for tents must be no longer than 6 inches due to the irrigation system. Fully enclosed camping tents are not recommended on site.
